Just curious, does anyone have experience or own the H & K 45. What are your thoughts? :fire

I used to own a USP Compact in .40 Cal that I liked very much. I sold it because I wanted to get out from under that caliber and get another .45. If I had bought it in .45 in the first place, I would have kept it. They are very good pistols - like any other good pistol, still not perfect, but very good nonetheless. I think HK pistols are somewhat overpriced, but they make very good guns.

I haven't shot the .45, but I practiced before my CHL qualification with a fullsize 9MM and loved it. I recently purchased a 9MM USPc (thanks TLynnHughes! :cheers2:) but have yet to shoot it.

If I find a USP 45 (full size or compact) for a good price, I'm jumping all over it. I LOVE USP's!

Yep, I love them too,but haven't shot a .45 yet. Glad you're happy with the USPc so far. :thumbs2: get out there and shoot it. I can't wait for your range report!

Like The Annoyed Man said, great pistols but a little over priced. I have shot one in a .40, can't remember which one. It was a full size. It shot great, had no jams but I didn't think it had anything over or worse then a Glock or Sig so I didn't even consider one because of the price range. If you can afford one and like it buy it!!

My .02c.....

I'm not a fan.

IMO, H&K makes some of the BEST eight hundred dollar $300 guns around.

Some specifics.....

Ergonomics: Poor. More like a moving van as opposed to a sport car.
- I don't have large hands, and the USP 45 just seemed large, bulky, and awkward to hold and was much harder to find a natural "comfort spot" that you can with most firearms.

Trigger: Poor. It has a typical service grade double / single action trigger system.
- Perfect for those unaccustomed to a finely tuned trigger, however, for those that are, the trigger system will make you cringe.

Reliability: Good.....except with reloads or out of spec rounds.
- My buddy would shoot reloads, and every so often his USP 45 would choke on a round that was out of spec, which he would hand to me, and would be promptly fired through my A1 Springer.

The performance and feel of the gun is not worth the price imo, and I would rather have a glock, M&P, or XD.

To Texas Dan Mosby.. good answer. I did try to test fire but found it too bulky and didn't seem to like at all. Luckily though the wife let me purchase the Kimber Super Carry Pro, of course I explained how reliable the Kimber was to justify but thanks for a good viewpoint.

I have the USP Expert (slightly longer barrel) and was using it for IDPA then switched to the 1911 platform. I still have it, it is a great tackdriver and holds 13 rds. Trigger is hard in DA and it is very bulky compared to a 4" 1911.

Had 2. A full size stainless and a tactical. Sold them both because they were too bulky for my hands.

That's a good score. While a lot of Kimbers have initial "teething" problems, they are accurate guns, and the 1911 platform is the king of individual customization. Though some view that as a weakness, I sure don't. :)

I would never seek out an H&K to own, simply because there are quite a few other manufacturers that provide the same thing, sometimes better, and for less money, and their products are much better supported than are H&K. IMO, H&K is more a product of their marketing than of their quality and value.

But I'm a simple and loyal individual, which means when I find something that works, and that I enjoy, I stick with it...

Best description I've ever heard for a USP is that it's the ugly, redneck love-child of an affair between a Glock and a 1911, but it thinks its a beautiful studmuffin "rlol"
