In Felton, California (Santa Clara area), 12-year-old Fox Pettinotti has achieved the NRA's Distinguished Expert Marksmanship Award in smallbore rifle. This is the highest marksmanship award in this category.

Interesting that a big-city California newspaper was announce such a feat without adding something about the horrors of allowing kids to touch guns.

The San Jose Mercury is a very liberal and anti-gun newspaper. Felton is a small town located in the Santa Cruz mountains among the redwood trees. It appears that this story was picked up first by a couple of the small local papers first, and then published in the Mercury without editorial comment.

When I was a youth, I participated in the same NRA program. Although I tried hard, I never made the Distinguished Expert. To my knowledge, only one person in our club ever made that grade.

My hat's off to Fox. :tiphat:
