moving trigger assembly on Saiga 12

folks,
I have a Saiga 12 that I want to replace the factory stock with a Magpul stock and pistol grip. The problem is that I will have to move the trigger assembly forward, which I am told is not too hard to do. That being said, my gunsmithing skills are very limited.
I can add a different type of integrated stock/pistol grip which does not require the trigger assembly to be moved, but I am afraid that it will not be as good a system. In other words, if the stock and the pistol grip are separated, I feel that in the event the stock is broken, the shotgun can still be used via just the pistol grip, whereas if they are integrated and the stock is broken, the gun is out of the fight.
It this faultly logic? If anyone here has moved the trigger assembly on a Saiga, was it overly difficult? Would anyone recommend against using the integrated stock/pistol grip, or am I being silly. Thanks in advance.

I did the conversion myself (zero gunsmithing skills). It was not terribly pretty (I did not repaint the whole rifle just the newly exposed parts) but it worked just fine.

If you have a dremmel tool that will help with removal of old pins. The only tricky part is putting the bolt hold open mechanism back in. There are good youtube videos on doing the conversion and an "easy" way to put the BHO back in.

You can follow this chain to see how it is done (not the best video but gets the job done. There are others too):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XU96VbnSoTc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The video that really helped me with BHO was this:

I used separate grip and stock with no issues.

Thanks for the advice and the video links. Those are going to help me a lot. I was shying away from the project, but the videos may give me enough confidence to move forward. Many thanks! :tiphat:

I did the conversion on my Saiga x39. No gunsmithing experience. It was easy. :cheers2:
