Moderators, my apologies if this is too general for the forum.

I came across an article from a homeschool group today talking about why the Speaker of the House election is so important. Looking at the 2009 legislation, and comparing the final votes for Democrat vs Republican backed bills, Dem had a better year, even though Republicans had a 1 seat majority. The cause appears to be from the leadership of Straus, who was elected mainly by the Democrats, and a several moderate Republicans.

I can remember learning about the parking lot bill in late 2009 and how it didn't get passed. The reason being that it was tied up in a couple of the committees, and finally placed late on the calendar( possibly too late to even get voted on) and behind the VoterID bill which was filabustered until the session ended.

The speaker is responsible for appointing the committee chairs that let this and other bills not get through. The Speaker needs to be changed.

This is the article about the importance of having a consevitive Speaker of the House.
