Loaded weights of carry guns

Made a deal at Market Hall gun show last weekend with a gentleman looking to sell one of the original S&W 342s (no lock). It, and and old postal scale that Mom gave me a while back prompted my checking the loaded weight (rounded to the nearest ounce) of various 5-holers.

As time permits, I may add include semis. In the meantime, feel free to post others as possible "nice to know info." for other featherweight freaks. ;-)

Ruger SP-101 Stainless Steel .357 - 3" barrel, Hogue oversized grip; 30 ounces
S&W 36, Old, blued steel .38 Special: 22 ounces
S&W 637 w/large Crimson Trace grip, .38+P: 18 ounces
Ruger LCR .38+P: 16 ounces
S&W 340 .357 (scandium alloy frame/titanium cylinder), small CT grip: 14 ounces
S&W 342 (alum. alloy frame/titanium cylinder, factory boot grip) .38+P: 13 ounces
And the winner is ..... :???: ;-) : NAA .22 Mag 1 5/8" barrel: 7 ounces

S&W 342.....Nice choice, I have carried mine so long it is showing a lot of "character". Pocket carry in Galco horsehide with Supervels. Pachmeyers make it fairly pleasant to shoot. The 342 or a G26 is EDC depending on dress.

I also have it's little sister the 332, which is .32 H&R mag.

May I ask: I wounder why your avatar you have looks like it is? Was your RIA 1911 pulling to one side? :biggrinjester:

Interesting thread. I actually weighed a lot of my guns a while back and dug out the notes when I saw this. Some of these guns I don't even own anymore. Amazing the difference adding the ammo makes.

U = unloaded L = loaded

Glock 23
U - 22 oz
L - 32 oz

Glock 27
U - 19.75 oz
L - 27 oz

Walther PPS
U - 22.3 oz
L - 26 oz

S&W 686 stainless L frame 4-inch
U - 39 oz
L - 42 oz

S&W 60 stainless J frame
U - 20 oz
L - 22 oz

S&W 638 airweight J frame
U - 16 oz
L - 18 oz

Bersa .380
U - 19 oz
L - 23 oz

Ruger LCP
U - 11 oz
L - 13 oz

This chart from mouseguns.com is great for some of the smaller semis.
