I just stopped by my local Planned Parenthood to get my pills, and was quite upset by what I saw there. I walked in, signed in, and sat down before I saw the sign on the window by the hinges of the door.

Though I was reading it through the paper backwards, I could make out "NO FIREARMS", followed by what appeared to be the English and Spanish 30.06 wording. For someone who tried so hard, they still got it wrong. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I was startled, but decided not to get up and go to my car to disarm. Even from where I was sitting I could tell that the letters were far from the appropriate height. It all fit on a 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper; there was no way that sign was legal. Plus, how on earth did I miss that before walking in the building? I wasn't distracted and would certainly have noticed that new sign, right? There had to have been something that made it difficult to see the sign.

On my way out I tried to take a photo with my cell phone. You can't even SEE the sign from the outside. The windows are so tinted that you have to get about 6 inches away from the glass to even see it. I snapped the photo and got out of there fast in case the clerks noticed my "suspicious" behavior, of course. And I bet the lady sitting directly behind the sign was a little creeped out.

As you can see, you can't even see the sign unless my reflection is over it!

So, now I'm torn. Should I call them up and rip them a new one over it (neglecting, of course, to mention that their sign isn't even legally enforceable), or should I just keep quiet and continue to carry there?

I think I'm going to keep quiet and continue to carry since the sign is neither clearly visible nor the proper dimensions. It just rubs me the wrong way, and I may print off some of those no gun = no money cards to give to the manager there…but I doubt it will do much good, and might even do harm if they start looking into the proper requirements of the 30.06 sign.

I'd keep quiet .... never know when you might need to defend yourself from some nut barging in there.
Why would you want to make yourself vulnerable?

As they say, When seconds count, police are only minutes away.

George Henard only needed 15 minutes, including taking breaks.

I ignored the late lamented AMC signs due to the size not being to code. Looks like the same case here even if the wording were correct.

Planned Parenthood and Gun Control have the same root origin and specific purpose, arising out of the eugenics movement and emancipation and failed re-colonization efforts following the end of American slavery. They kinda go hand in hand and are dependent on each other. I wouldn't expect anything else.

Read Justice Thomas' opinion in the McDonald case (here, starting on Page 67) and then watch the movie Maafa 21 (available on YouTube and in places such as this) and you'll see the intertwined history of the two.

Law just says "Appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height".

I went and looked it up after posting that I stand corrected on the contrasting collors

It is on black and white, but it's on the inside of a heavily-tinted window, which is why it looks blue. It's also near invisible to anyone standing outside, rendering it useless to them.

Hoi Polloi, I know and wasn't really surprised that they're intertwined, just surprised that they've only now decided to put up a sign - and an unenforceable one at that. I'd like to get my pills elsewhere, but I can't beat their student discount and I really need it since I'm not insured. I'm going to start asking around and checking with my doctor to see where else I can get the prescription anyway, but I'm not going to be able to make a change for the next few months anyway. >_< Ugh!!

Have you ever researched Planned Parenthood? Its the most liberal antithetical organization to American civil liberties ever devised. There is nothing shocking about planned parenthood posting a 30.06 sign.

Anne Richards Daughter Cecile Richards ran Planned Parenthood. Anne Richards vowed to Veto any CHL legislation that came across her desk while Governor.

There is no coincidence. Cecile Richards is also an ardent supporter of the Brady Campaign.

Thanks, you are such a fount of information. :tiphat: I was kinda' wonderin' about where "it" all began.

FWIW, I believe that parenthood should be a well thought out planned event, not something entered into because it felt good at the moment. Parenthood like a CHL carries a long-term set of responsibilites. Similarly, I don't think everyone should be allowed to carry a gun - openly or concealed. Our constitution speaks to the gun thinghy but our founding fathers could not foresee the population explosion, abandoned children, welfare mothers, deadbeat fathers, etc., ad nauseum that are forced on us in this day and time.

Good luck, Random. I'm confident that you will prevail over the forces of evil and injustice and will go and do the right thing.

I'd be perfectly happy to keep quiet, let them think they are banning guns, and continue to carry.

Hoi, thanks for bringing up some of the roots of this portion of the totalitarian state and its goals. It is important that more people start to see the big picture and this certainly helps.

There were many orphans in the colonies pre-revolution and also during westward expansion. There were also many "oops" pregnancies back then. What the founding fathers didn't foresee is income tax (it required an amendment to the constitution) and socialist programs like welfare, AFDC, social security, ad nauseam.

I don’t mean to hijack, and fundamentally disagree with the root of PP.

HOWEVER, we took a tour as part of a leadership class with the chamber of commerce, and I will say, they do a LOT of education and preventative medical services. It was eye opening to me.

But at the end of the day, they still do what everyone knows they do, and my opinion on that will never change. I was just surprised by how much good they do.

True, PP and gun control are both Jim Crow laws mentality from their foundation.
