Jared "Gallleria of Jewelry" Baybrook location is posted 30.06 but not directly on the front doors, on the glass panes next to the door about 5 feet up. Kind of hard to see, I didn't notice until my way out  and had already made my purchase.

Just FYI for everyone.

Yeah, a good "deterrence" against armed robberies! Just post a 30.06 notice.

Where is large some of money there is more risk of armed robberies that goes totally wrong! Bank robbers hates crowded banks and prefer empty banks for quick in and quick out. In Jewelery place, where bust in, splash, and grab as much as you can, the store co has the imagination that if no one will shoot at the robbers, the robbers will make it out quick and easy. Insurance will pay. One may have no beef with that, however, if the robbers started pointing guns and shooting one has to react, no?

In any case, I do not like Jewelery places.

I had to go there 2 weeks ago with my wife, as that is where we got our wedding bands at 7 years ago... this trip was the 6 month check up on her diamond prongs and cleaning.
I knew it was posted and left my weapon in the car, at the same time, told my CHL wife (who never carries), that i will not shop there ever again. She kind of realized how serious I was when I also got my TSRA cards (the No Guns = No Money cards). She is not happy that i wont go into certain places, but she will deal with it, as I am not shopping at those places!

Not only is it posted, but I dread every time I have to go back to that place to do as teamless described. :smash:

:iagree:

I don't like them on the basis that I have spend large sums of money that I could be using to buy some new firearms/ammunition :mad5

All Jareds are posted. It's a corp thing.
I like Jared for retail service, but stopped shopping there for this very reason.

Ah longhaired redneck, there is always a silver lining in every cloud... Spending large sums of money there can get you out of buying gifts throughout the year, "honey, would you rather me not be paying this monthly bill just to get you a gift for valentines???" :evil2:

My jewler has three guns in his office and has a CHL. He also has no 30.06. Oh, and he has much better prices and service than Jared will ever have.

Jared can keep their sparklies and their misguided "corporate policies"

I am the same way. We have to go every 6 months to get our diamonds cleaned (her rings and ear rings, and my ear rings). I do not disarm and go in. I stay armed, and stand at the door waiting for her to come back out.

The only reason I like Jared is, as long as you are up on your 6 month inspections, they will repair jewelry and replace missing diamonds no questions asked.

I do have to say, though, if you missed the sign, you just were not paying attention when you went in. It is large (as it is supposed to be) and white, on a dark background. The contrast between the words and the background makes it very noticeable.

I purchased a very nice trinket for Mrs. Anygun from that store several years ago. She complained it was too big. I married a strange woman. Anyway, we went there recently to have another ring repaired and I saw the sign. She went in and dropped it off while I stayed outside.

I was out doing my errands later and she called me to pick up the ring. I disarmed and went in, picked up the ring. The salesperson asked me if there was anything else and I sez "I want to talk to the manager."

He came over, I identified myself, and told him he needed to look at my purchase history and say goodbye to my business, because until they take down the 30.06 I am outahere.

He did say I was not the first one to say so.

I told him that he was not doing his job unless he passes this information along to his superiors.

From a Corporate point of view, particularly in a Jewelry store the 30.06 probably makes sense.

I would imagine that any firm insuring said Jewelers would much rather cover the loss of jewelry, etc. rather than the possibility of liability derived from any shooting that may occur in the store prompted by a CHL-carrier defending themselves.

I don't pretend to like it, but as Chris Rock says, "I understand it".

:iagree: I have a jeweler and do not need to go to overpriced jewelry stores anymore. Find a good broker and you will save a ton of money, or at least get A LOT more for your money. My wife's engagement ring appraised for a little less than double of what I paid for it,l try doing that with a big chain diamond. And I can carry my gun on my hip and talk hotrods and guns with my guy.

So how do you find jewelry brokers?
