Just because you are an idiot and were at a tragedy, does not qualify you as an expert on the topic at hand. You're still just an idiot.
I'm just appalled at the lack of critical thinking here. No guns were allowed on campus, so there was a shooting....so we need to make sure no guns are allowed on campus!!
Sure hope you didn't pay much for that degree....it sure is helping you out in the reasoning and logic department, Colin....

The more money the brady bunch wastes employing these losers, is less funds it can use to promote it's annoying rhetoric. If these victims can't connect the dots on guns and campuses, I'm sure they're not doing amazing things in the name of furthering anyone's cause.

"...SWAT officers dragged him from the classroom, four 9mm bullets having decimated his left knee, right shoulder, and both hips".
Decimated, huh? I'm not exactly Mister Literacy when it comes to grammer and punctuation, but at least I know what "decimate" means, and it doesn't mean "destroy".

I agree.
What he is advocating, essentially, is that everyone adopt the same strategy that failed so spectacularly at Virginia Tech and every other place where it's been tried.
Seems to fit the definition of insanity pretty well.

decimate(deci|mate)
Pronunciation:/ˈdɛsɪmeɪt/
verb
[with object]
*1 kill, destroy, or remove a large proportion of:the inhabitants of the country had been decimated
*drastically reduce the strength or effectiveness of (something):public transport has been decimated
Harping on the "
proper" use of the word "decimate" is one of those pseudo-rules, like NEVER ending a sentence in a preposition or NEVER splitting an infinitive, that a certain subset of the English-speaking world loves to harp on, either because they learned it one way in high school and were never taught otherwise later in life or because they simply like to create the impression of intellectual superiority.
The modern incarnation of "decimate" is typically used to suggest that a significant percentage (though not necessarily 10%) of the object has been destroyed.

Folks like this guy hold positions based on a version of reality that only they can see, which makes them really hard to talk to.
Attempting to do so violates my personal rule of not engaging in battles of wits with those not so equipped.

I've found that people opposed to legal gun ownership are frequently people who are just plain afraid of guns. The fear is such that they are unable to separate the tool (gun) from the act (crime or self defense). Blinded by worry about their own ability to handle a weapon, and unable to see that this is a reason (maybe THE reason, maybe just part) for their objection.
I've had the opportunity twice to take friends with strong anti-gun opinions out shooting. Both of them women (I was not "involved" with either). In the end, both of them changed their opinions from 100% "no" to "open minded". Once they got past their fear of the weapon itself, they both were able to separate the "weapon" from the "act" and at least engage in a reasonable discussion.
One of them married a good friend who is a gun owner. We all used to shoot skeet together when we lived in the same city.
Next time my sister comes to visit, I plan on taking her kids out shooting (if she'll let me). I need to "break the cycle" on that side of the family.

An excellent observation.
I'll have to add that line to my notes for these types of situations.

Hard to figure that logic. "This approach failed miserably last time. We need to take this approach more." It's one thing before you have a test case, it's just idiocy after a few datapoints all stacked in one direction.
Friend of mine had a slightly different version of that quote:
"Never argue with an idiot, 'cause he'll bring you down to his level and whip you with experience."
I love that one!
