The jeep driver said,"... you're surrounded by Germans..."

Lt. Winters replied,"...we're paratroopers, we're supposed to be surrounded..."
Thank you and God Bless, Major.

I never knew the man, other than through his depiction in BoB... But I'm typing this with tears in my eyes.

Thank you Major. Godspeed Sir. :patriot:

Dick Winters is a true American hero. And Band of Brothers is one of the best books I've ever read.

WOW! Sorry to hear this. Have read his book and several others surrounding his work/topic. I think we've probably all seen BoB. Rest in Peace Dick! :patriot:

Several articles have stated that a public memorial is pending.

I would love to pay my respects in person.

Dick Winters was the real deal. I think he might have had more integrity in his pinky finger than many have in their entire being. The consolation for me is, Winters was a Christian man, and I believe that I know where he's gone to. Maybe we'll get to shake his hand some day.

RIP Dick Winters.

As he has stated, he does not believe himself to be a hero but he served in a company of heroes.

ETA: I still consider him a hero after his assault on the 88's. Carry on, soldier.

:iagree: :patriot:
And he didn't seek to be a hero. He just did what had to be done like so many others. He did it so someone else wouldn't have to. :tiphat:
