I wish I could be there with the riders and other townspeople to keep these disturbed folks from bothering this family.

I wish their 2 "advisers" got criticized for their advice ...
Obama's Rahm Emanuel, said: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste"
and
Mar 7, 2009 BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told an audience Friday "never waste a good crisis" ..
SOME Congress persons (Vultures) are now swooping down to ban this or that ...
"Westboro church" follows the same tactless philosophy; they get criticized. (And rightly so IMHO)
They all need to be criticized for using the plight of others to further agendas immediately following an incident.
God bless the victims, their families, and others affected.

I think "criticized" may be too forgiviving. How about "ostracized" or "chastised" or even "reviled"?

It looks like the people of Tucson are preparing to protect the funeral

They (the WBC freaks) are like the stray cat that "adopted" us a few weeks ago. We tried to ignore it, but my boys insisted we feed it.
Fed it once, and it hangs around. Ignore it, and after a while, it goes away.
Kudos for all of those who are going to protest the protesters. My thought is, though, I think they should be there more for showing their respect for the Green family at the funeral.

Yes, I think what PGR does is extraordinarily patriotic.
Sadly - but understandably - I've heard via some friends in Tucson that PGR will not be attending Christina Green's funeral because it is outside their mission statement to honor fallen soldiers. But, as posted above, others in Tucson are planning to attend and form some sort of human shield to protect the family from Westboro's hatred.
Anyway, additional info on PGR.

And I hope forum member LaserTex won't mind me using his description in this thread, as it seems he's actually a member of the PGR

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement
The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.
We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.
Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:
Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.
We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.
To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.
Doug

I never heard of them before, but read this, saw the first youtube you posted .. I think PGR is awsome based on that.
Thanks for the info, I'm passing it on to a couple neighbors and relatives who ride. (I used to in the 70s/80s, but more physical limitations now)

Having not followed the WBC cult closely...what exactly is their thing about funerals in general?
At first I thought it was to protest being gay.
Then it was for being in a war.
Now it is for getting shot at?
What am I missing here?

its for attention and money. They go try to be offensive, then if they are attacked in anyway, they sue your pants off.

EXACTLY!
I also believe they - especially their leader Fred Phelps - are truly evil. They basically seem to protest the American way of life in general, but in a particularly vile and disgusting way. It started with gays - and they seem to link everything back to a hatred of gays - but they preach that all Americans are going down below because of our "acceptance" of gays. It seems they believe we should cast out all homosexuals, or stone them to death or something. And until we do, we are all doomed and our soldiers, as viewed thru the WBC members' evil eyes, are merely our gay-loving henchmen or something.
They're beliefs are so far outside any form of Christianity I've ever heard that I have a hard time even using the words "Baptist" or "church" when referring to them.
When I watch Phelps speak on that video (something I won't be subjecting myself to again), it's like I'm watching

himself speak or something (apologies if anyone finds this offensive to speak of another human being this way, but what he says truly sounds like he's possessed by some demon or something). I'm not a very religious person myself, but I have great respect for good people of all religions and this guy just seems antithetical to goodness.
