Disturbing instructions

I had the day off one day last week and decided to go to the local indoor range. I got my target and walked in to find only two other people shooting. It was a man and woman in their 50s. I skipped the lane next to them and got the next one. I loaded a mag and began to shoot. As I loaded another mag I heard him telling her to just relax and take her time. Then, he told her if she ever has to shoot someone to empty the gun on them and if they fall down to walk up and shoot them in the head. I dont get into other peoples business so i didnt say anything but i was wondering if some of you would say anything and what that would be.

I try not to get into other people's business, so I would roll my eyes and say nothing. I would probably tell a friend at work about it or someone on the forum.

I usually don't like to get into other's business but I also don't think that it is smart to let someone continue to pass bad advice like that along. Especially if that advice could get someone some prison time.
So, I would probably say something along these lines...
Excuse me. I don't mean to interrupt but I heard you say...... I do not know if you are aware of this but that could get you charged with murder. In Texas you can shoot to stop the threat. Once the threat is stopped you cannot shoot anymore. If the threat falls and does not move he is considered stopped. However, if he falls and is moving toward you or a weapon he is not stopped and you can continue to fire.
I would say it nice and politely so I wouldn't come across as a jerk.

Don't you dare say anything like that!! Lawyers need to eat too.

I'd figure instead of a divorce, he just wouldn't visit her, I think they banned cell phones where she might go, so maybe he just wants quiet time with his girlfriend, ... Nunna Mah Bidness.
Actually I might interrupt and state It would be wise to talk to a lawyer, before making a statement to police should that day ever come.

That could cost you twice, Chas. Two clients. The actor and the accessory before the fact.

I love it. First laugh I have had all day.

I've heard the same thing at the gun counter at Cabela's.
I gave my opinion, then nodded politely and walked away when I was told, "If you don't kill them then you didn't have to shoot and you'll go to jail".

A bumper sticker I once saw: "You are entitled to your wrong opinion." Sometimes I wish there was a law against being stupid, but that's beyond the slippery slope; it's being pushed over the cliff. We live in America, not 1984.
Other than trying to teach them, the only other thing you can do is pray for them; that they are never put in the position to act on their wrong opinion.

As horrible as it sounds, there is a strange sort of logic to the guys statement. I doubt that I would follow it, but it is there...

The only time I would say anything is if a statement like that was made in a class I'm teaching or, one of my less than mature grand children made such a statement. The first is to protect me if someone who took my CHL class does that and said "but, but, I heard that in my CHL class." The second because no matter how knuckle headed the grand kid is, I don't want them in jail.
Now, I might drop a business card off at their shooting position.

Yeah, that's just great advice the man gave to his ladyfriend:
I'm sure the district attorney would really appreciate the gunshot
residue on the dead BG's head from the closeup coup de grace round.
