Some of the recent hysteria regarding imposing more useless gun control
really frosts me when the anti will say "Even NRA members support <this
useless gun control proposal>".

NO WE DO NOT.

as long as the NRA is also populated by the "Ducks Unlimited crowd", there will be any number of NRA members the gun control advocates can quote to make their points. I have no statistics other than looking at the number of CHL holders in the State of Texas (a fraction of the population), but I would have to guess that we, as self defense advocates, are dwarfed in numbers by the other 80 million or so "gun owners" in the nation, and totally outnumbered when compared to the other 300 million or so.

I think it's amazing that we can even hold our ground given those numbers.

Yeah, I saw that too, they are much better at throwing out misinformation than fact collecting and rational thinking.

This is probably the truth. What better way than to be a nonbeliever, join the party, then create disention from within?

As I'm frequently fond of pointing out: The second amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting, and when people start equating it that way, they're ignoring why it exists. Apologists are FAR more frightening than anti's are, because they weasel and equivocate so long as they can still go duck hunting with their $5000+ shotgun. No better example of this than Joe Biden.

Yeah, I have more contempt for those kind of people than anti's. With an anti, you know they've abandoned reason and believe the world can exist without guns. With the "all you really need is a sporting shotgun" type, you have a person who will negotiate your rights away so long as they curry favor. Contemptible indeed.

NPR lies about everything, just like the rest of the MSM. Usually they simply lie by omission, so they can plausibly claim they didn't intend to lie --that they're lying overtly is another sign this whole new gun control push is being orchestrated by the left, and all the big media players are on board. I believe this is push back from the Supreme Court decision on the RKBA, which they've been burning over ever since it was rendered. They will do anything within their power to get their way.

Some gun bloggers are saying that NPR contacted them specifically seeking someone who would opine in support of the magazine ban. OTOH, who really listens to NPR except except a bunch of liberals who are reflexively anti-self-defense? --so they're preaching to the choir.

This is something I'm always on about...drives my wife up the wall when I get on the soapbox about the "country club scrolled shotgun" crowd, the ones who are fine with just about any gun control law that doesn't intrude on their guided pheasant hunts (not that I have a problem with hunting, in and of itself, used to hunt when I was a kid)...glad to see I'm not the only one that this irritates the heck out of...thanks.

NPR has good programming that is not the usual stuff found other places on the dial. Do I agree with it all? No. I do find it interesting and I might learn something, agree or not.

Yeah, Car Talk and a couple other programs, but I, for one, was talking about their so called "news," which may target an audience that considers itself more sophisticated than Joe Six Pack, but is just as dishonest as the rest of the MSM.
