He is essentially arguing that not only do gun control laws have zero impact on crime, they also keep potential left-leaners voting Republican.

Mr. Dan has missed the point of the modern liberal; the goal is for the gevernment to run everything about everyone's life. That will not happen until the population has been dis-armed.

I am researching a book on Americans' relationship to their guns, and keep meeting working-stiff gun guys -- people whose wages haven't risen since 1978 and should be natural Democrats -- who won't even listen to the blue team because they're convinced Democrats want to take away their guns.

Now, why would those good-ole-boy rednecks think that?? Maybe because that's exactly what's going on and those good-ole-boy rednecks (of which I are one except I'm not making $3.00 an hour anymore) know exactly what's going on.

His next sentence equates gun owners with dope smokers but that would lead me down a rabbit trail which I'm not interested in running today.
