Is it greed? What if if the original buyer said, I wanted to make money and I was buying from FFL dealer and selling privately to another legal buyer or buyers. What If the other private buyer was legally able to buy privately but engaged in smuggling to Mexico?
I guess any private resale of firearms can be considered a straw purchase by eyes of the BATF.

Plus, if you know the buyer is not legal to buy firearms that is a felony.
What is the penalty for conviction of a straw purchase like that?

Oh shoot. I was hoping to read that Bloomberg had finally been arrested.

I was hoping for a Boston Mass TV station investigative reporter getting busted. It wouldn't be the first time the MSM intentionally violated gun laws for a story, but it would be (to quote LaUser) "a breath of fresh air" to see them prosecuted for their premeditated crimes.

Buying with the intention to immediately resell I believe is illegal, makes you be considered a "dealer" by the ATF's twisted logic. You can sell stuff to buy other stuff or just to raise cash but intent is what is looked at. I sold 3 rifles over a 2 week period to buy a really nice rifle which is ok but if I bought a dozen Ar's just to immediately resell during the Obama rush of 08 then I am "dealing". Why would he buy to sell to others anyway? Logically the other buyers should be able to go to the same store and not pay the middle man markup so a red flag does go up. I have sold a rifle within 15 minutes at a show but it was not intentional as I intended to keep the rifle but a guy made me an offer at retail (I got it pretty cheap) so I took it after seeing his tdl. From what I read the guy bought dozens of AK clones so unless he was opening up a range or starting a training camp he had no logical reason for it.

I know enough about the BATFE not to trust what they claim as fact just because they make a claim. Especially knowing the intent of Obama when he put Andrew Traver in charge of the BATFE.
