What was your First Job?

I hope I'm not repeating a "First" Thread, but what was your First Job?
Not including the lawn mowing job I had when growing up, my first real job was working at a Hardware Store in Jacinto City (a suburb of Houston) after school and saturdays. I learned to duplicate keys and repair Lawn Boy lawnmowers and how to cut and handle glass.
What was your "First Job"???

Other than lawn mowing and baby sitting for neighbors, my first job was sacking groceries at a Rice Supermarket. I've done several different things since then.

Grocery store back in the 80's. ... met my wife there.
Started in Produce, then moved up to checker.
In those days we had to actually punch in the prices into the register.

The first job I got a paycheck for was a shop boy at
my father’s fence company. Sweep the floor, load and unload,
and sometimes cut pipe and make a delivery. I was 15.
My first outside job for a big company was with 7-11,
the Southland Corporation. Right after I was graduated from high school.
I learned a great deal about dealing with the public and the way the world works from that job. At that time they still had curb service but we were not a 24 hour store. I think the world would be a better place if everyone was required to work with the public for least six months. I know everyone would be a better customer. I am including myself in that statement.

During the winter, clearing land by hand in South Texas for the princely sum of .50 cents an hour. I was fourteen.
What helped make this job interesting was under each caliche rock I heaved up to be thrown into a pile, could be found either scorpions and/or a black widow spider clinging to the bottom side of the the rock. By some miracle, I was never stung or bitten by any of these critters.
I was sorta the crew boss, as my two co-workers were both functionally retarded, which said, I guess, a lot about me...

Busboy/Dishwasher in a restaurant at nine years of age.
Pay: Whatever they decided I was worth that day.

Dang! That brought back memories.
I started bagging groceries and then moved up to checker as well. I remember those old Sweda Cash Registers. We had to manually enter each price in... and call for a "Price Check" on the intercom if the sticker was missing!

Stripping linens from rooms and washing and folding towels at the Blue Horizon (which since has been torn down to build a big condo) on the beach in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
Man, did I see some insane things at that job.

For my last two years of high school, I worked as a busboy and dishwasher at Bonanza Steakhouse. I think I made $1.25 /hr, but I got to eat a ribeye steak every night for dinner. Their motto was "Come as You Are, No Tipping!"
As bad as it sounds, working only on weekends, I saved enough money to pay for my entire room and board for my first year of college.

First paycheck, U-Haul as soon as I had my drivers license, before that insulating new houses and cutting grass and chopping wood.
Hate to sound like a geezer at 45, after typing this I wonder how many kids today follow in my footsteps.

First paying job I had was at a feed store when I was 14. I would load feed, bails of hay, alfalfa, and pine shavings in trucks or on trailers. I learned how to use a forklift, shoot the bull with the old men that would come in, and that chunkin' 50lb sacks of feed over your shoulder all summer makes football practice a breeze.

Well, not counting the lawn mowing and paper boy jobs, I did work at my Uncle's gas station on the weekends pumping gas when I was 12. Even fixed flat tires with patches and broke them down on the tire machine. LOL
But, I guess the first real job was working in a sporting goods store in high school when I turned 16. Unfortunately it was athletic sporting goods and not hunting and fishing, but I did get some great deals on Adidas and Puma tennis shoes, golf clubs and a great baseball mit.
