Here is an interesting story about an ex-police officer in Mexico killing three gun men with AK-47s who attacked him. The officer was using a .380 (which it now turns out he illegally owned). Anyone still feel under gunned with a .380!

Two things..
1. No way... There's more to this story..
and..
2.
State police took Sandoval into custody on Sunday. MartÃnez said that he does not believe Sandoval is facing homicide charges, and that he was taken by police for personal security reasons. State police did not respond immediately to calls seeking comment.

He might have had something to do with the cartels. Even in Mehico I don't think it's all that common to have four guys wearing body armor and carrying AKs show up to your house. I love that the folks in DC aren't saying it's proof that our guns are slipping into Mehico. I wonder if it's because he was able to defend himself.

Shooting 4 well armed and armored men with a .380, without being injured/killed yourself?
Getting the drop on one guy, sure.. Two guys, possible... But four? Unlikely.
Not without "circumstances" that are so far unreported.
No comments in the article about the scene... How many shots did those AK's fire?
If it was a real 4-on-1 gun battle, the mess at the scene would surely be worth mentioning.
'Cmon folks... seriously... Taking out 4 guys wearing armor and walking away unscathed is James Bond stuff
(even with a PPK.

)
No?

I don't blame you one bit for being skeptical. This is Mexico and things are usually not what they seem. It is highly possible that the shooting scene was manufactured and the dead guys were the targets of a hit.
On the other hand, these street level hit squads ain't exactly the SAS. They are usually just street gang members who get recruited. They are given Ak-47s, and a lot of the time they are high when they are doing the hit. If these were first timers who were sniffing glue prior to the job, I can see an alert armed resident taking them out. They were not expecting someone to shoot back at them for sure.
I can see it going either way. I would say that we will have to wait for more details, but once again, this is Mexico so more details are probably not forthcoming.

Yes I think he was undergunned. Lucky, maybe, crafty, and yes there's probably more to this story than we know so far.
Heck, if i was facing four guys with AKs, I would feel undergunned with anything less than a Bradley Fighting Vehicle and a platoon of infantry...

I have no problem believing a former officer pulled off three head shots and wounded a fouth invidual before they knew what was happening. Those guys were probably way over confident with all the fire power they had and underestimated their target. We all know it only takes a couple of seconds to get off multiple rounds. Being that on target.....possible.....with enough training and practice.

Almost anything is possible sometimes, people have been killed with less than a .380.
A few years ago (~2001) we were in dropping our daughter off at Kent State, OH. There was an incident where three bored teens shot another from a moving car with a BB Gun. The 13 year old that was hit with the BB died. The teen that shot him pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Perhaps someone should open a small arms store in Columbus. Folks in the small town could use the protection, and a few of those .380's might filter over to the deserving. Mexico is no different than the USA in at least one respect. If a bad guy on the outside thinks that the good guy on the inside might take him out, he is likely to search out a weaker target.
