Need help with Glue

I've got a project going where I need to glue 2 plastic water bottle caps together and not having much luck.
I have tried super glue, but the caps are flexible so that will not hold.
Does anyone have any experience with glueing and can give me an idea which glue is best for that type of plastic??

Thanks a lot!! :txflag:

Have you tried the two-part glue normally used to 'weld' PVC pipe together. Not sure if it will work on bottle caps. If it will not be exposed to water, epoxy should work.

If you have no luck with the other suggested adhesives try Barge Cement. That's what it's called not what it's for, made by Pierce and Stevens Chemical. There are two different versions one is best for leather, make sure you get the one for plastic. Shoe and boot makers have used it for years. There is a water a based and VOC type, get the type that has VOC's. Available at Tandy leather. You can find it online also. I have used it for years.

GOOP is a highly viscous glue that works on practically anything. It'll even glue shoe or sneaker soles back on and last the life of the shoe.

Although I've got lots of specialty adhesives, when I'm not sure about a material and don't want to have to try 5 different things to get one to work, I reach for the GOOP.

How about using heat and "welding" the two pieces together?

You need to experiment to see what sort of plastic you are working with. PVC glue, when used on PVC, will dissolve the plastic, so that it melts into the other surface, and then cures out. the bond will not break although you might be able to break the PVC at another location. the connection is firm. If it is polystyrene you can try model airplane glue. Works the same way as PVC. If it does not have to be air tight, consider drilling a hole throught the caps and using a pop rivet to hold them in place.

@Papacub - Okay, inquisitive minds want to know. What type of project are you doing the requires you to affix two caps to each other?
