In Mission (McAllen area) around 7:15 today a resident was shot by an apparent home invader.
The suspect came to the door and said he needed to do something with the water meter. He then reportedly pushed his way in and shot the adult male resident twice with a shotgun. Other residents were unharmed.
"The shooter, described as a slim Caucasian man wearing a beanie hat, fled the scene in a blue, older Pontiac sedan with no window tint driven by a heavyset man, [a police spokesman] said."
The victim is in stable condition in a hospital.
