Do I need to send my old CHL back to Austin?

I got my new CHL with my new address in the mail about a month ago. Do I need to send my old one back?

The only time you're required by law to send back your old license is when you change the category--ie upgrade from NSA to SA. I just cut up my old one and threw it away when I renewed.

Yeah. I believe they DO want you to destroy it though. I think technically you're not supposed to have two that are both "valid" at one time.

???? Well...if the old one doesn't have your current address....then it's not "valid" so.....why destory it?

You do not need to. The expiration date, name chg, or address chg will make it an invalid license.will

37 Texas Administrative Code, Rule 6.14:
A license holder may not possess more than one license to carry a concealed handgun issued by the department. A license holder who requests a duplicate license based on a change of name or address shall destroy the old license promptly upon receipt of the duplicate license.
