In Texarkana Wednesday a federal prisoner who was in the custody of federal marshalls reportedly fired shots in a room at Wadley Regional Medical Center. The weapon was seized and no one was hurt. There is no report of how the prisoner obtained the weapon.

I have no idea exactly what happened here. However, I can't resist pointing out that the desperation of prisoners to escape sometimes overwhelms officers who are escorting them, sometimes with fatal results for the officer and other innocent people.
Many agencies now require officers who have hands-on contact with prisoners to remove their sidearm and possibly all weapons that a prisoner could grab.
