Affidavit Notary Rejection?

Has anyone had the affidavits rejected because of the type of notary stamp used?

We had a student get his paperwork sent back with "copy" written on the affidavits and "notary stamp not acceptable" written on the letter from the DPS.

Thing is the wife has typically notarized all of the previous paperwork and nothing has been sent back so far. She called the DPS today and the guy said he would look into it and call her back. Well he called her back and said that a supervisor apparently opened this one students package and didn't like the way the stamp was layed out. She asked her supervisor and they decided to reject it.

My question for the DPS is how can you have different standards based simply on who opens the packet? That makes zero sense to me, that each person processing the applications has the ability to accept something in a packet or reject it at their own whim.

So now we will order a new notary stamp for her, and it looks like I will get to notarize all the forms during the class this Sunday.

End of rant.

I'm not understanding why they rejected a notary stamp?
Was it the "type" of stamp?
Embossed rather than ink?
Whenever I get an embossed stamp, I rub graphite over it so it copies/scans.

I have seen lots of different notary stamps - round, square, rectangle. I thought all you had to have was the seal, your name, and your expiration date, and you would be good to go. I have NEVER heard of DPS rejecting paperwork based on the notary stamp.

Definitely a new one....

It is an ink stamp.

They didn't like the layout of the stamp apparently.

So we will go back to Staples, and give them a printout of what the requirements are from the Sec. of State and see if they will make a new one for her. I am sure we will get to pay for it again.

Thing is she has been using this one since August. :grumble

Was the stamps "expiration of commision" date legible? They said if that date was not legible, the document would be denied.

Maybe the clerk thought it was a copy rather than the original stamp. I can't imagine rejecting due to stamp type.
