Chuck E Cheese illegal sign?

I was elected to go on an adventure at Chuck E. Cheese in Grapvine today, when I got to the door I noticed the 30.06 on the wall next to the inner walkway door. It was on a sign not much bigger than the size of regular printer paper. Would it be an illegal sign even though they really dont have a place big enough on the from to put a sign big enough to be 1 inch letters? I went on by and inside like I didnt even see the sign.

It's not illegal AFAIK there's no laws against it.

Are you asking if the sign is illegal or are you asking if the sign is unenforceable because it does not meet the requirements in 30.06?

I guess both

It isn't "illegal" to put up an "unenforceable" signs whether they be generic "gunbuster" or misworded or too small or just "no firearms"

In other words they broke no law putting up whatever sign they want.

If the sign does not meet the requirements of 30.06, it is unenforceable and does not give CHLs "effective notice"
So, we only need to obey "enforceable" 30.06 and 51% signs which meet the proper requirements.
Disregarding an enforceable sign, is a criminal offense.

Thats what I thought, just wanted to hear everyones opinion on it.

The sign is unenforceable, as it doesn't meet the letter of the law of 30.06. Attempting to post, however, has been just the excuse I needed to limit my dealings with Chuck E Cheese. If there is a trouble, mine will be Chuck E Cheese.

My bank doesn't allow non-licensees to carry a Beretta or Taurus PT-99 or PT-92 ,,,, that's what their sign shows.
But it doesn't apply to me.
The sign isn't illegal, it is unenforceable against a CHL since it fails to meet 30.06 requirements. It is a "valid" sign for non-licensees too I suppose. (Only took me a year to get the "terminology correct" I used to say "invalid sign." ;-)

No it wouldn't be an illegal sign, being too stupid to post a "valid" 30.06 sign is not a crime. You just can't regulate stupid no matter how much I'd like to at times. And it would appear from other posts the PD and City Attorney in Grapevine don't care if the sign is out of spec. If they are called, you stand a chance for a ride in the black and white taxi with the pretty lights anyway.

I dont get it. Some cities just seem to be anti- gun while others welcome chl's.. Why cant we just get along?

I gotta get one of these

I noticed this sign yesterday too. There is no way the letters were 1" high and the sign would be easy to miss if I wasn't looking for it. Personally, I don't believe it constitutes effective notice under 30.06. Regardless of various Grapevine City officials' view of its enforceability, I doubt it would be an issue if you're properly concealed.

I agree it's not effective notice, and would not be an issue with my own carry. New CHL's that have not discovered the drawback of various cheap neoprene holsters with their poorly designed IWB clips that allow the holster to ride up off your standard belt and dump to the floor COULD have an issue. I figured that one out while waiting on my plastic.

Especially in municipalities where the authorities are slightly biased toward the anti 2A side, or just too hard headed to think the state statutes apply to them.

...when I see an unenforceable sign, I just go about my business and ignore it...whether a "mini-30.06" or other symbol...I conceal well, and don't bring it up to the business in conversation...don't want them to correct their error...or have the chance to give me a verbal notification...
...as to whether PDs are making arrests even where the business is not legally posted...two questions:
1)How did it become apparent that someone was carrying?
2)Did the person arrested get CONVICTED when he broke no law and acted according to the letter of the law regarding his CHL?...I've been told "They'll getcha out there "..."let us know how it works"...but the proof of the PD acting outside the law on the matter hasn't been posted to back up the rumors...and the law is clear...so I won't worry as long as I'm not breaking it...there are legal ways to handle being arrested when you're innocent...and anti-gun governments have been "re-trained" in other states...haven't heard of it in Texas yet...
