Border Vigilante on Trial in Deadly Arizona Home Invasion

I find two particularly interesting elements in this case: 1) the predators came impersonating police; and 2) after being taken by surprise, one of the victims was only able to survive because she was able to get a gun and shoot back. Note that while the ABC article makes her survival seem incidental to shooting back, the Herald article makes it clear she's only alive because she was able to shoot back.
Of course, the media is also lying by called these predators "vigilantes" when they are simply thieves and murderers --they weren't privately punishing a crime, they were committing one. But the word "vigilante," while a lie, serves their overarching narrative associating killers and "extremists" --"vigilantes"-- with those opposed to illegal immigration.
A final element to note is this: to show how "dangerous" states like Arizona are and how they're filled with "extremists," the national media is trying to conflate this event with the recent attack on Giffords even though it happened two years ago.
