Gee the TSA really needs to tighten the leash on their people.

This is why I've always have a problem with the "do not lock your bags" rules. The idea that someone has access to the contents of my bags when I'm not around is frightening.

Really doesn't matter too much. All baggage handlers and TSA agents have keys for the TSA approved locks, and will cut off a non-TSA lock if they want in the bag. I had a lock cut off a rolling garment bag in Dallas on an outbound flight to Boston. There was no note left in the bag from TSA advising they had examined it and the bag was left unfolded and only partially zipped. I found it this way when it came off the carousel at Logan. I immediately checked and there was nothing missing, but there was a scuff on one of my patent leather tuxedo shoes (was heading to a wedding in New Hampshire.) Filed a report with the airline and TSA, and of course both claimed it must have been the other that did it. Had there been more damage I would have followed up with them, but just figured I would end up getting nowhere with the complaint.

This is even worse when considering that firearms must be kept in your check baggage.

Actually, I think they will steer clear of bag with a firearm in it. They know that it will be checked the minute the bag arrives, and if misdirected, the airlines and TSA will be all over trying to find it. I think you don't want to lose a bag, put a gun in it. :thumbs2:

...a thief will steal...money, guns, ball point pens...all he's got to do is see it and want it...it's a roll of the dice whether they hit you or the next guy...they worry about how not to get caught later...if at all...
