Range Report: PA-63 & SP2022

Well I had two new pistols that needed to be broken in and given some range time. Also had to get the GF some trigger time on semi-auto pistols.
First up was the Hungarian FEG PA-63 in 9x18 Makarov. It functioned flawlesly with Wolf FMJ and had a few FTF with the Silver Bear HP. The Silver Bear was the last 50 rounds fired so I'm suspecting lacquer buildup from the first 100 rounds of Wolf FMJ. The FTFs were that the cartridge would not completely chamber with the last third not seating in the chamber, also it was a totally random occourence(switched mags, no limp wristing). This little pistol is accurate! I started drilling them all in the bullseye @ 7yds, so I started doing double taps, mag dumps and weak hand only. Still managed to keep it pretty good. This pistol is definately not a pleasure to shoot with its snappy recoil, funky target grips and short beavertail that seems to dig into the web of my hand. After about 150 rounds I called it quits. This target is about the last 100 rounds or so with 15rds of 9mm from the Sig 2022 up top around the neck/collarbone area.

This was the GF's third time to shoot a semi pistol and she's starting to get the hang of it. As for the Sig SP2022 it functioned 100% flawlessly, 200 rds of 124 grain FMJ and a box of 147gr PDX1 without a single hint of a problem. The double action trigger is a little long on travel but the single action is great. As for recoil, it's a soft pulse even with the PDX1's. I set the GF up at seven yards and she was doing good so we started her on double taps and a couple mag dumps. She had some flyers in the start of the double/triple taps but by the end she was keeping most of them in the 8 ring. After a double tap that both shots placed nicely within a inch of the bullseye she looked back and said " I think that I'm getting the hang of this and this pistol is fun.." with a ear to ear grin.
I finished the day off with a quick string of PDX1's in the head of this target, not the best on my part.

All in all it was a great day at the range and the GF is asking when we're going back
