Had several students show up this weekend with their checklists fom applying online and all the checklists said they needed 2 signed photos. Another student said a friend of his had an application rejected in November for not having signed his photos. Did they go back to wanting them signed? I don't recall when they quit requiring signatures, but I haven't had anybody do it in a long time.

I had them all sign yesterday just to avoid any issues.

I wish they would update the website to more accurately indicate what
they mean by signed photos.
It USED to be that one photo had to be signed by the party taking the fingerprints.
That is NO LONGER required.

It IS still required that the applicant sign the photo holder.
The form you print off and has the signature space.

They have the right information it just is a little confusing when
coupled with past requirements

It should be obvious (to an instructor, anyway) that the misnamed "photo holder" still needs to be signed, as that is where the signature comes from that is printed on the license. DPS need to rename this form to "signature card" or something similar.

I am well aware of what USED to be required and how it changed to what was currently required. I saw the checklists myself and it asked for signed photos. It doesn't seem like rocket science to have the checklist worded correctly when it prints out. Then there is the subject of the guy getting his sent back because the photos weren't signed.

Yes the check list calls for signed 2 signed photos and 2 fingerprint cards. And yes I wish DPS would update this.
Do not sign photos and only one finger print card (for a couple more days)

I wonder how long it will take DPS to take finger print cards off of the check list?

All Original CHL applicants are required to submit fingerprints to TXDPS as part of the complete CHL application. CHL applicants can choose to submit electronic fingerprints or an ink rolled paper fingerprint card* regardless of whether the applicant submits a paper application or an online application.
*TXDPS now only requires that applicants submit ONE (1) ink fingerprint card, which will be used to process background checks.
Original CHL applicants must continue to sign the photo holder and return it with two (2) passport photos regardless of the method used for fingerprinting; however, signatures are no longer required on the back of the photos.

I still tell my students to sign them both. I figure that it can't hurt.

Since the DPS Website says they no longer have to be signed, I've been having my students print their name on the back of each photo, just in case they get seperated at DPS.
