Question about restraining order

Hello guys, I have a question about this pertaining to obtaining a CHL/Buying a firearm.
First this question is not about me, as I have obtained my CHL years ago, but more so for my girlfriend.
She currently has a restraining order against an ex husband, I know that if a person has a restraining order against them, they can't purchase a firearm or have a CHL. What if she was the one that filed the restraining order against someone else?
This might be a dumb question, I just want to double check that she can legally obtain her CHL, even thought he restraining order isn't obviously against her....
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to the forum Apophis. As long as she meets all of the requirements she should be good to go.

Just as a matter of logic, it would make sense that people who are defended by a restraining order should also be defended by a CHL if they so choose.
Not that lawmakers are always logical.

Her having a restraining order against another person should not be a disqualifier from getting her CHL. So as WildBill stated, as long as she meets the other requirements, she should be good to go.

Thanks! I figured as much, but you never know with some silly laws that happen to be passed....

I 100% agree, it'd really upset me if she can't get a CHL because SHE filed a restraining order on him. What's even worse is she's no more than 110 pounds with her hair wet and boots on, so we both feel she needs something to compensate for her petite size. I'll get her signed up for a class.

i agree that being the one that filed the restraining order wouldn't disqualify her, but if you want to be absolutely sure before you spend a couple hundred bucks on the course and state fee, you can always call the CHL line at DPS and ask.

Is there a mutual or reciprocal restraining order against her?

No there isn't. She filed it on him.

No there isn't. She filed it on him.
As long as he hasn't retaliated, and filed one on her, she should be fine to proceed.
