Oh, this looks like fun! Can I play?
Agency Secretly Endorsed Practice of Letting Guns "Walk"; ATF Agent to CBS News: "God Only Knows How Many Guns Were Used to Kill People" but their deaths were worth it to further our political agenda to blame US guns

Tonight on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC (6:30 PM, ET), CBS News Investigative Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports on a major scandal building within the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), one of America's top law enforcement agenciesI can't even think of a polite comment here, but when I think top law agency, I think FBI, not atf.. CBS News uncovered evidence also known as "googling"which supports the allegation that the agency that is supposed to stop border gunrunning to Mexico's drug cartels actually participated in letting it happen. Attkisson reports that these guns have turned up at the scenes of violent crimes, including the murder of a U.S. border patrol officer in Arizona.
I am glad to see this story getting more mainstream coverage though. Maybe start making some people doubt the numbers and lies they're being fed.

I think we should watch this story carefully. BATFE is part of the Dept. of Justice and the AG is closely tied to the current Administration. There is probably almost no possibility that the BATFE cooked up this idea of letting guns "walk" to Mexico without the consent of supervision. Which means someone in Justice or the Administration approved the plan.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Is it possible the current Administration is interested in arming one particular cartel so that it might dominate the others? Particularly if one of the others has ties to Islamic radicals?

I don't think so. It may be they want big headlines about US guns in Mexico to push more "Common Sense" gun laws here in the USA. The fact that the Gun Shops wanted to stop selling these guns to the "runners" shows that Americans don't want our guns going to Mexico to kill anyone, much less Americans.
As we can see, the tactic backfired on them.
The BATFE sells guns to the cartels. Time to do away with the BATFE and roll their duties somewhere else.
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is just too broad of an agency to really control.
Tobacco should go to the IRS. Taxes
Alcohol should go to the IRS. Taxes.
Firearms, at least the illegal type, should go to Homeland Security. Or even the FBI.
Not to a group who "Smokes, Drinks and Carries Guns" for a living.
:anamatedbanana That should be left up to the law abiding citizen! "rlol"

I copied the link to the story and sent it in an e-mail to most of my address book. Citizens who hear every day that our guns are the reason Mexico is in chaos and we should have more laws need to see this story. If all of us sent this story out to those who don't frequent these forums or saw that story, just think how many more people might not swallow the next load of propaganda shot their way.

I agree that the most likely reason this happened to was supply lots more guns traceable to American gun shops to the cartels. The White House wants more gun laws and if you can't trace enough guns to America...well, that can be changed. I suspect this was the hatched plan. If more news organizations will just start digging and bringing out just who ordered this, I'd be on cloud nine.

None of this surprises me. I dont think there is a limit to what this administration will do to make gun owners look like the bad guys. Obama personally appointed the head of the BATFE. I am just glad that that someone caught on to this. Its disgusting. Check out the video on the NRA home page about the Mexican border cartel and the guns they use.
