I wouldn't let this "teacher" within a mile of kids, personally.
That could have been me and Mrs. Oldgringo whom she assaulted. Could we have shot her for this life threatening attack on our persons?

As long as you only shoot to stop the threat.

It really bothers me that I am no longer surprised when things like this happen. Maybe I'm getting jaded. I really hope not.....

I hope the teacher is prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and if found guilty, is appropriately punished.

...and stripped of her state furnished pension. Whoever hired her should be given a letter of reprimand as well.

Enough is enough!

If the school system has employees with psychic abilities, they would be able to tell which kids are a waste of time.

LOL. I can understand being torked-off but charging employers with psychic preemptive liability might be taking things a tad too far.

Well then, back to my original question: had it been us that she throttled, should we have :fire her?

Yes, this incident does 'tork' me...on several accounts. One of them is questioning the difference between beating up on old folks or beating up on kids? Yes, I also realize the school board does not have prescience; however, it does have the responsibility to address the unacceptable behavior of its representatives.

I understand and agree with your sentiments, Sir.

The article snippet posted doesn't mention the age of the teacher, but if she was able to choke both of them, I figure she had a pretty good physical advantage over them. Therefore, I'd think an elderly CHL would be more than justified in using deadly force to stop the threat.
Edit: Unless the elderly CHL did something to start/escalate the confrontation.

On the question of being able to use deadly force against an attack by this woman; you may not have been armed. As far as I know, the Parks Mall is posted 30.06 though I have never seen a posting on the doors leading directly into the main stores from the outside when I go to them.
I am disheartened this teacher had any access to children. She obviously has a big problem controlling herself. :mad5
