Obama Calderon Press Conference

Today at lunch time I had on Fox news as the Obama/Calderon press conference was going on. It was your typical Blahblahblah as expected but the end was surprising. A mexican journalist asked Obama if he could use his veto powers to revoke the 2nd Amendment...basically stating that too many mexicans were being killed by gun owners and by gun smugglers. Suprisingly enough Obama spoke up and said he supported the second amendment for people's protection, and hunting and stated that it was a part of our constitution and it was his duty as the president to uphold it. I was dumbfounded, for the first time I thought to myself good job mr. pres. Then I realized what I was thinking and almost got sick. At any rate, I thought it was comical that someone wanted our president to take away one of our rights so that one of their citizens would not be harmed as they were ILLEGALLY crossing our border...

I'd respond with "Why don't you take the cartel (Federales) guns away ... Texas isn't big enough."

Instead they want to disarm Texas so they can have it back?

That is surprising though.

Perhaps not.

The movement is much stronger than many give it credit for being. If you combined those who follow La Raza and those directly involved in Reconsquista, the numbers, including in South Texas, are quite large. Please note that one of the quotes is from a professor at UT Arlington. This is NOT just a border/RGV issue.

I read about the reconquista a few years back after hearing it on WJ. Apparently it is a more commonly accepted belief than we know.

So did Obama say anything about the US not being the sole cause of cartel firepower?

Well, thrown in there with his "support" on the 2nd, he did reiterate what he had blathered on about taking more decisive action against gun smugglers. Here is a though, Mr. Calderon, since we let your trucks in, do you think you might try a little harder to keep your people out? I wonder what would happen to US/Mexico relationships if we treated illegals the same way they do?

Don't let the guy fool you. He speaks out of both sides of his mouth.
