Unique is all I could find in stock locally, so what do you recommend?

Caliber: 9mm

Use: looking for soft shooting, paper punching loads (will not be used for carry or personal defense)

Pistol: Colt Combat Commander/4.24" barrel

Loader: Dillon SDB

Bullets: 124 and 147 grain TCJ FMJ

Powder: Unique (all I could find in stock locally)

Set up and ready to work the handle for the first time.

(searched through many other threads, but I guess I overlooked recommendations using Unique powder except for one that wasn't sure 5.0 grains was the correct load.)

thnx

doc,

My Lyman manual states 4.5 to 5.0 grains of Unique with a 124-125 gr bullet. 997 to 1078 fps.

With a 147gr bullet they say 3.7 to 4.5 grains of Unique 873 to 1039 fps.

Lyman is very conservative so these should be what you are looking for.

Alliant says 5.8 max with a 124 and 4.3 with a 147

My 9mm load is 124 gr Precision, Berry's or Rainier bullet with 4.somethin' of Unique (more than 4.5 less than 5.0) YMMV

Holler if you have ???s

Handloader magizine did a feature on the 9mm using Unique in their Dec. 2010 issue. If you cant find a copy here is link to the back order site http://www.riflemagazine.com/magazine/i ... ?magid=612

Also I just posted some of my load results using unique to your previous post about 9mm recomendations.

looks like 4.5 for 124 and 3.7 for 147 are good starting points

lemme see how it's setup and I'll adjust as necessary

thnx

quite the learning experience

The loader had some issues, so I ended up loading 124's like a single stage and measuring and weighing each individual round.

Probably the best way to start.

thanks for the help!
