versatile powder?

Hey guy's give me some input on a versatile powder that I can use to load up both .223/5.56 and .308/7.62x51.

I also need the same info on a powder that will load several pistol calibers also. (9x18, 9x19, 45acp, 380 acp, 40 s&w)

I am going to the funshow tomorrow and would like to get a couple 1lb canisters to start with.

For .223/.308 IMR 4895, H4895, IMR 3031, H335, Accurate 2230 would all do he job

For the calibers of pistol you have listed Bullseye, 231, HP38, or Accurate #2 are good choices.

If I could have only one rifle powder it would be Varget as first choice and W748 as the 2nd choice. I have used both successfully in 223, 243, 22-250, 7mm-08, 30-30 and 308.

Selecting only one handgun powder would be more difficult, probably would go with either Power Pistol or W231.

HP38 and W231 is the same powder and very versatile in .380, .38 .357, 9mm, .40 and .45.

AA1680, AA2230 and AA2015 are good powders that have a good range of use.

IMR 8208 XBR is supposed to be good with both calibers. I've found it to be versatile within .223, in that it works well for both 55 and 69 grain bullets.

This is a new powder that just came on the market in about the past year or so, and I'm quite impressed with it so far.

I don't think I've opened any of the pistol powders other than Bullseye and 231 for non-magnum rounds in a long time. Both of those are very versatile and efficient.

I picked up some IMR 4895 and some small rifle primers at pasadena, so I should be good to go when I get some 62gr-75gr bullets.
