I am taking the kids to Disney in Florida. Are there any big differences between Texas law and Florida law that I should be aware of?

Be sure and check the rules for Disney parks and parking lots. I seem to remember talk that you weren't supposed to bring weapons even in Disney parking lots. But, then again, my memory isn't what it used to be either...

I think that I read somewhere that you're only allowed to carry a mouse gun on Disney property.

Just got back from there this weekend! Spent almost a month in FL. The are differences, however, I only found two things that really stand out:
1) You cannot take a weapon in a Police station. (Found out after the fact, but was being escorted at the time and the escort knew I was armed before we got out of his car.)
2) You cannot take a weapon in to a bar. No 51% signs! You can go to Friday's, Chili's, and the like, but you cannot sit in the bar area.

As far as Disney goes, I did not see one sign. They do search every bag, purse, backpack, butt-back, etc. No metal detectors or wands were in use to my knowledge. I carried in all of the parks with the exception of one night at EPCOT. (My Son, Son-In-Law, and myself decided to drink our way our through each of the countries--getting 'local' alcohol from each country (sans China).)

There is not a 30.06 type sign. I have been given conflicting information about the validity of gun-buster signs in Florida. The locals shared that the only off-limits locations are those specified by law. Mr. Cotton--in a different thread--shared information from someone in FL that had a different interpretation of the law. Did not matter to me as I did not see any signs concerning the prohibition of weapons.

Travel safe!

Off topic: Being the off-season, we were able to rent a 3,500 sq/ft house, with five bedrooms, 4.5 baths, pool and hot tub for a mere $800 a week. It was only 20 minutes from the Disney parking entrance. If was more than sufficient for our crew of 11. Much cheaper than any hotel.

That's too bad. I've spent some time in China and Tsingtao is good beer. It makes all the Chinese businessmen :anamatedbanana at the beer bar.

I can't tell you guys how much I LOVE this forum. Thanks for all of the posts. From what I have been reading, FL is less restrictive about where you can carry, but is more restrictive with the drinking/bar part. That works for me, as I will be the goofy dude with mouse ears on his head, and not hanging out in bars.

We are staying on-site at the motorhome area. From the internet research, they do check bags and fanny packs etc, but do not wand or anything.

I kinda like the fact that the whole trip from Houston to Florida is handgun friendly.

My summer trip to New York...well it's not going to be as secure.

I was in NY for the last couple of days...thank God I am on my way home (sitting at the airport in Charlotte). I have found the best thing about leaving Texas is coming back to Texas.
