TDCJ: Beaumont prison escapee believed to be in Houston area
TDCJ believes Puckett went into a hospital in the Texas Medical Center Wednesday around 10:45 p.m. to seek treatment for the wounds and lacerations he incurred during his escape, but fled after seeing law enforcement.
...
Puckett was serving a 30-year sentence for aggravated assault of a public servant.
Boy, it's just swell I got to ride the bus to and from the Medical Center last night and this morning, unarmed of course because I am a student, with this psycho on the loose in the area.

I really hope campus carry passes.

Yep, a convicted rapist serving 3 life sentences overpowered two guards while being transported, took their weapons, and escaped.. He was recaptured about a week later 25 miles from where he escaped.

I guess when you're serving that much time you have nothing left to lose by trying to escape.

I certainly remember that case, since I live in Baytown. He was first spotted by a bus driver, then when he fled the school bus, he showed up at a company my buddy works at and asked him to use the phone (or get some water, I cant remember). My buddy recognized him and called the police, and he was picked up just outside his office.

He is 27. When he was 17, charged with escaping from a juvenile corrections facility in Wisconsin.

Yep, saw that on the news last night. Good job by the USMS. :thumbs2:

On the positive side, this incident gave me an example to point to when I submitted written testimony in support of the campus carry bill.
