At least he is setting a good example (in this picture) by keeping his finger off the trigger.

Out of context, that is a funny picture, but I just looked it up at http://failblog.org/2011/03/16/epic-fai ... -gun-fail/ and people are writing in the comments that he just ejected the magazine and was clearing the chamber.

At least that is better than (I forgot which tv show) where the person racked the slide (showing a bullet escape) and then eject the magazine.

Actually, in reading through the comments there are these:

I believe that is a Sig P229; the magazine of which has a hollowed-out plastic floorplate, especially the 10-round Clinton mags. The mag is in the gun in the picture.

Remington is correct. I have a P229 and thats exactly what the bottom of the gun looks like with the 10 round clip in. The op is the real “fail”
We're in Texas where magazine capacity is never an issue, so we don't think of these things... or at least I don't. Could it be true? All the same, you'd think that a reduced capacity magazine would have a floorplate anyway...

This 10 round (restricted capacity) “mag” might be what we are seeing. It does appear to have a hollow base plate.

I’d love for someone to ‘splain this one to me though. (pretty sad).

when i watch shows like these it's with the knowledge that most of what i see is for entertainment and completely unrealistic... i.e. headshots while diving across a room, swat guys clearing a building and racking the slide on their shotguns after every corner they come around, gunmen getting off 30+ shots with a handgun before a mag change. but what really bothers me is that most of these actors ALWAYS have their finger on the trigger.

what i found ironic is i was flipping channels the other night and some gansta movie was on and this hood rat was holding another kid at gunpoint, gun turned sideways and all that, but his finger was at least off the trigger. the cop shows don't always get the safety rules right, but that gangsta knew what he was doing.

Watched a Rockford Files rerun last night. An MP handed him a govt 1911 and told him the safety is on the right. Rockford said, I know that.
