Thinking about a Dillon 550B

I'm thinking about getting a Dillon 550B for x-mas. I'm hoping to be able to buy the press and needed parts to load 9mm and 45ACP with a budget of $400.
Is this possible? What all should I get? Anyone know the best place to get the cheapest price?
I already have dies and everything, I currently use a Lee turret press without auto-index. Looking to get a faster press. I have considered the Lee LoadMaster, but that priming system hasn't had the best track record. Also the auto-disk powder system doesn't really accomodate many custom charge weight/powder combos.
Thanks
Dustin

Dustin,
The 550B is a great choice. I don't think there's anywhere that sells Dillon Precision at a discounted price, at least I have not seen any discounted prices on Dillon product anywhere. I would probably look for a used unit or start with one caliber and purchase a caliber conversion at a later date.

I found this on GlockTalk.....I know nothing about the product or seller. Just thought I would pass it along. It looks like it might be within your budget.

Nice deal but when I try to register on glocktalk it tells me the admin has banned my IP address, strange.

Fred Gallard is the local Houston Dillion Dealer. He sometimes offers a small discount but the really big thing is, he will assemble the machine for a first time buyer. (Or at least he did 10 years ago when I bought my 650.)
The only problem for you is:
he is on the other side of Houston

Call the board's owner's number-- its on there somehere. Most likely, he has banned that IP address which was once used by someone who also uses your same Internet Provider.

Ok well in a week or so I will be the proud owner of a Dillon RL550B. Gave the guy a call and it's only 4 years old. Selling to help fund a 650.
Comes with:
Press and all factory parts/manual and original box.
Conversion kits for 9mm, 45ACP, and 223
Spare parts kit
$350 shipped.
Does this sound like a good deal? Is the dillon warranty as good as they say? Not just the life of the original owner, but the life of the press?
P.S. Thanks for the find Jason.

Nope. It's better than that.

Here's a link to a new 550. The price you have with dies is not bad, bud a new press is $370 minus dies.

Even though you're buying the press from someone else, Brian Enos is a great resource for all things Dillon and will answer any questions you may have.

Congrats on your new purchase. $350 shipped with dies is a smoking deal.

Uhhh . . . you DO know the 550B requires manual indexing, right?
I have an SDB myself, and use it to load .45, .38/.357, and .44 Mag. I like the auto-indexing, and since I don't swap calibers often, it meets my needs.
The 550B is a fine machine, and in many ways is more versatile than the SDB. But IMHO the SDB is a better choice if you're
only going to load ordinary pistol cases, and won't be changing calibers often.
(BTW, I haven't loaded 9mm for a long time, since commercial ammo got so cheap at Academy.)

Yeah I know it requires manual indexing. I've already got it setup and loaded several hundred rounds on it. Much faster than my turret press.
I started loading 9mm because any time I go to academy to buy it they are sold out of everything. That and ammo prices are going to be raising pretty soon.
