Trading a gun across state lines.... Can I ship to his FFL and him to mine? Or do we have to have local FFLs ship to each other?

My understanding is that it is legal for a non-licensed individual to ship a handgun to an FFL in another state. IANAL.

However, if you investigate this, you'll find it's difficult. You can't use USPS. FedEx and UPS have special requirements and only accept weapons at certain centers.
FFLs
can use USPS, so the bottom line is that it can be cheaper and easier to have your FFL ship the piece than to do it yourself.

FedEx had no problem insuring and air-shipping my $1200 machine parts to Yonkers, NY.
:)
FWIW, when I bought my "machine parts", the guy shipped it direct to my FFL.

I've shipped FedEx several times out of state with no problems. As long as you're shipping to the FFL or manufacturer.
I read soemwhere you can also send a pistol to YOURSELF overnight in another state as long as YOU are the one opening the package. Wish I could recall where I read that now.........anyone know abut this?
