Model 60 Grip Suggestions

I am looking to change the factory wood grips on my S&W Model 60 snubbie and wondered what others were using and liked. Thinking about the Hogue Bantam or similar. New Model 60's come with a S&W set of rubber grips, so ordering them is an option also.

...I've carried Pachmayr Compac Grips (not the smaller Compac Pro) on my Model 60 and now 649 since the 70s...a joy to shoot and fill my hand well without being hard to conceal...any Smith RB is well served by them...J or K...believe I've got a spare set if you want to try them out first...
...yup...found 'em...pm an addy if you want to try them...

Keith - I would check out the Pachmayr GripperĀ® Grips. They cover the backstrap and may be better at absorbing some of the recoil. I have a set for my Detective Special and they work good for me.

+1 for the Pachmayr - that's what I use.
They're a little big for ankle carry, but I don't use that carry method.

...Grippers don't work with my fingers, so I don't have them, but the Compacs worked well in a clip-in leather holster in my boot for years...Packys have been around a long time...good stuff...

At first, I didn't think I would like the finger grooves, but I got to like them. Pachmayr has the Compac grips without the finger grooves. I also have a pair for my Detective Special, which I like. The model for Keith's gun is SJ-CS Compac. They are very common so you could probably find a pair at your local gun store to check out before you buy.

...are they thinner than the regular Compacs? I tried Grippers years ago on a M58 and my fingers were too big/didn't fit the groove pattern...they're the same material, though...I saw lots of large frames wearing them...back in ancient history...

I think my are Compac Pro, so am not sure of the difference. I carry IWB and OWB so that doesn't make a difference. They fit my hand and are not slick and work just fine.

...Compac Pro are a bit shorter than the Compacs...too short for my paw...the Compacs may be fatter than the Grippers...haven't compared...there's an indent in the butt end of the J round butt Compac that fits my little finger perfectly, speeds grip acquisition and draw...the K size doesn't have it...

Ya had to add that "ancient history" part, didn'tcha.
The large frame in my duty holster was one of those wearing these grips.
I was only feeling old before.
Now I'm feeling fossilized........

I haven't seen these in real life, but I am mildly interested--Crimson Trace laser grips in a boot grip style for J-Frames.

They are standard on the S&W Model M&P340CT.
Disclaimer here, I have had a M60 for years and, as soon as I got it, I ordered a set of Spegel Boot grips. Been pretty happy with the set-up.

Yeah, me too. My Model 66 duty weapon that I carried before switching to the Model 59 SA still has a set of Pachmayr Presentation grips on it. That was before the Gripper's were very popular.

...first full lug 66 I've seen...686, maybe??? The 66 came out in around 74 and was a M19 stainless...half lug...those grips sure made it easy to hang onto that weapon...I looked for a more rounded version but couldn't find any...the Gripper would have been better if they'd fit my paw...sure beat the wood grips, though...

Not my gun, just a picture of a similar revolver with the presentaiton grips. Probably is a 686.
