Chief Don Adams of district police said there is a distinction between students who bring a handgun on campus and into buildings and a student who leaves a handgun in a car.
According to the penal code's Texas Concealed Handgun Law, a gun is prohibited on the physical premises of any grounds or buildings, but doesn't include parking lots or sidewalks.
Adams said if students were to bring a gun into a building, it would be a violation of Texas law that could result in an arrest and charges being filed.
However, if a student were to leave a handgun in a vehicle, they are not breaking the law, but are in violation of the F.4.2.1 student code of conduct which is No. 8 on the list of 40 "expressly prohibited behaviors."

but what about a student code of conduct. Could they in fact kick you out of school?

currently yes... personally, I'd be thrilled if it was all just
de-criminalized. I know how to conceal well enough that no policeman or other has ever even seen belt-clips or other "tell-tale" sign I may be armed.
And if I ever had reason to draw, I'd cross that bridge of being expelled or suspended for a year due to
"policy", when I came to it. (If they want the media publishing "Student defends life but breaks school policy gets expelled for living")
Headlines
"Student who prevents rape, carjacking, kidnapping and murder, must take online courses elsewhere for a year due to violating school policy"
(If I was an undergrad, I'd probably find courses elsewhere, that are transferable and transfer them in when I returned, if I did.)

Bear in mind..this is a college where all students have to buy a parking permit even if they do not own a car and there are only 600 spaces for 5000 student cars..

The parking spaces thing is at every college in San Antonio. As of 1 year ago, you didn't have to buy a permit. And they dropped the price to 25. Beats the hell out of the 130 I had to pay for UTSA.

Step 2, re-holster, and conceal again,
before untrained campus police arrive later, and they get all confused and stuff
