I am attending services for my father at the Houston National Cemetery and wondered if CCW is allowed. If CCW is not allowed how about MPA and leaving it in the car? We're goind to a restaurant afterwards that is not in the best part of town and I'd hate to be w/o. TIA

First off, condolences on the passing of your father. I salute his life and his service to our country.
The cemetery is maintained by the VA, so would assume it is federal property. And, parking on the grounds with a firearm may be a violation. So, best to leave it home IMO, but if you must, I would disarm before going onto cemetery properly and lock it away in the car unloaded. Once you leave, then you can find a place to discretely re-arm yourself.

Thank you for the condolences on my father's passing. Thanks also for your opinion. I pretty much figured it was off limits and appreciate your input.

It's buildings where federal employees are regularly present in the performance of their duties that are off limits per federal law (
18 USC ยง930), not all federal property. Even then there is a defense to prosecution if the building is not posted.
The VA has been discussed before and nobody has been able to point to a statute that prohibits carry on VA property.
