Yes, unless you want to get "shut down" by the IRS.

You can just send the checks to me... I'll hold onto them. My uncle's name is Sam.

In this country there is no debtor's prison....unless you owe money to the government...then there is a debtor's prison.

I heard the people opening envelopes and depositing checks will be working, but the people processing refunds won't.

Are we questioning the questionable question?
I think it's a valid question.
It may be a viable question. It appears to have sprouted into offshoots.
I question what will the Post office do with tax returns and refund checks when the government closes and the mail is undeliverable.
Will they be stored with "letters to Santa?"
Will they all be marked "No such person at this address, RTS/Return to Sender?"

Am I the only one rooting for a Federal Govt shut down?
Last I checked, we didn't disband our military or other essential services when this happened before. Sounds like the perfect way to right-size the Fed govt in a hurry.

After previous shudowns, the unnecessary employees received back pay for their time off.

Good point.
Then again, maybe everyone will be able to see that life still goes on and we really don't need all the government that we have now, leading to future cuts - Hey, a guy can dream, right?
