Did a quick search and didn't see anything so I apologize in advance if its a repost....

I found this on a Facebook friends wall. He is very liberal, and like many liberals, has some pretty stupid opinions when it comes to certain things.
In this instance he thinks the squirrel should't have been maced and they "it could have been handled differently" but doesn't really elaborate on what other actions the officer should have taken other than getting the kids inside if he truly thought it was rabid.
Whatever the case...here is the video. Form your own opinions but I don't think the SRO did anything wrong.
I can't get the embed feature to cooperate so here is the link.

As for embedding, remove the www. and it will work.

And of course, we are just seeing a small part of the incident. Looks like the squirrel was just curious. However, if it was getting in too close to people and could have scratched or bitten someone, then I imagine he was hoping the pepper spray would discourage it from coming close to people.

Bottom line, he was a distance away, so probably wasn't even that harmful to the squirrel other than annoying.

I think this should be in the "What a Maroon" section. Maybe they should have found an animal psychologist to reason with the little baby squirrel. I wonder if your friend would change his mind if someone got bit. :banghead:

P.S. The pepper spray didn't seem to very effective.

Thats what I told him.
I mentioned that if the SRO had done nothing and the squirrel had gotten a hold of one of the kids he would be getting chewed out for doing nothing.
This is a good example of danged of you do, danged if you don't.

RPB posted this last week:
Anthropomorphism
anthropomorphism an·thro·po·mor·phism (ān'thrə-pə-môr'fĭz'əm)
n. The attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to nonhuman organisms or inanimate objects.
Many people think of wild animals, such as squirrels, in terms of animated cartoon characters or cute Pixar CG graphics. They are not. Listen to the video with people squealing and saying things like "it's not right, I am going to cry". If they had gotten bitten you bet they would have cried.

In my neighborhood, we have many squirrels running around the yard, climbing fences and trees. Even my cat has enough sense to leave them alone.

They would have really been crying when they have to get a round of rabies shots because the cute cuddly squirrel got away.
