Genesis Illumination has developed a non-lethal incapacitator to disorient individuals or small groups without pain or injury.

The XL-2000 features StunRay® patented technology whereby the intense beam of incoherent light, flashed in an opponent’s eyes, disorients and incapacitates to allow time for capture & restraint. The subject fully recovers within 5 minutes and suffers no pain or lasting injury. Unlike most other non-lethal defenses, the XL-2000 is effective at ranges to 200 feet and allows for a measured escalation of response to any threat.

The link (http://www.irconnect.com/noc/press/page ... l?d=202703) goes to a September 2010 press release about a Northrop Grumman-built U.S. Navy Maritime Laser Demonstrator that burned holes in target boats from across the Potomac River...which is still pretty cool!

Found this link for the StunRay XL-2000: http://www.genesis-illumination.com/Pro ... l2000.html

Says it, "...projects a controlled beam of white light more than 10 times more intense than an aircraft landing light and instantly adjustable from 1° to 10° beam width. The projected light is bright enough to read a newspaper a mile away."

Supposedly its visible light output is 1,280 lumens. At that brightness, ya gotta think that the person wielding the XL-2000 would also have his night vision severely impaired. I suppose you could close your eyes, then shoot a blast. Interesting, nontheless.

The company links to (unfortunately) a pretty useless YouTube video:

Heck, my wife has had something similar for years. All she has to do is cock her head to the left and look at me with her laser vision and ZAP!
