Here is the link to the article. Texas college republicans hold Sen. Ogden accountable for not showing support for campus carry bill SB 354. http://www.texastribune.org/texas-educa ... get-ogden/

Good! He needs to either support his constituents rights or be put on the record saying why he opposes our right to self defense.

I hate to try and push things, but could someone in the local Republican leadership in the Bryan area talk to him about this issue, if they haven't already?

I would love to have him come clean about his true position on the issue. I am going to email, fax, and call his office tomorrow.

I'm not one of his constituents, but I still went ahead and emailed his official address. I'm sure a staffer probably weeded the email out (why bother the good Senator with such trivialities, right?), but maybe if there is enough volume on this, it will make a difference...(*NOT holding breath*).

I thought he was pretty clear about his position. He thinks the bill is too restrictive and he thinks the bill is too lenient and he thinks it will be ineffective because not enough people will carry at a university to make a difference. What's not clear about that? :biggrinjester:

I look forward to calling Sen. Ogden's office tomorrow morning and asking him, as a Texas Republican, to please reconsider his position and give Sen. Wentworth the vote he needs to bring this bill to the floor for debate.

I'm in Sen. Ogden's district. Have voted for him in the past. It no longer matters to me what his lame excuses are. Doesn't even matter (for purposes of my opinion of Sen. Ogden) whether SB 354 passes or not. IF SENATOR OGDEN IS NOT LISTED AS A YES VOTE ON SB 354, THEN HE WILL NOT SEE A YES VOTE FOR HIM FROM ME AGAIN.

I'm in his district. I voted for him in the past. Regardless of his final vote on SB354, as long as there is a decent person running against him, he will not see a single vote from me. I'm tired of his nonsense.

He announced he was retiring after last session, then changed his mind. In all honesty, he probably doesn't give a flying flip what we the people want, because he plans on retiring after this session, I'd bet. We're finally seeing votes in favor of how he truly thinks, and not what he thinks he has to do to win reelection. And so far, I've been thoroughly unimpressed with his views.

I'm also in Ogden's district. I followed this bill very carefully last session too. I passed out flyers to friends and coworkers, even strangers urging support for both campus and parking lot carry. Last session campus carry passed the Senate, but it never got voted on in the House. It would have easily passed the House too if it had just gotten a chance to be voted on. Well even though it passed the Senate last time, Ogden voted against it then too.

I guess lots of people didn't notice. I sure told everyone who would listen. I called and faxed and email several times last session as well as this session. He is NOT a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I did not vote for him last november. I will not vote for him if he runs in the future.

He was also the one who INSISTED that an amendment be added to the Parking lot carry bill last session that excluded the Petroleum industry from the law entirely. It ended up being a moot point in the end because the bill never passed the House. Thankfully this time the Senate version of Parking Lot carry didn't get such an amendment. I heard the House version does have an amendment for Petroleum companies, however. Thankfully the amendment does not prevent carry of handguns by license holders in their cars, but it does prevent rifles and shotguns in cars. It'll be interesting to see if that amendment stays intact in the final version.
