True military discipline

For a change of pace, here I would say is a case of impressive military discipline. If not a complete hoax, it was of course a blank.

I've seen this before. If I recall, it was some kind of public display, and they obviously were using blanks. (Still dangerous, yes, but not as bad as an actual round.) The soldier in the rear had a slam-fire. I seem to recall some discussion that slam-fires are more prevalent with blanks, softer primers? I don't remember for sure.

A classmate in my dad's OCS class got accidentally "goosed" by another classmate with an M1 Garand that had a blank cartridge in it during some kind of training exercise. The rifle apparently went off and burned my dad's classmate's wedding tackle to a crisp..... .....just before he was to get married and take a honeymoon.
.....I'm sure he was grateful it was only a blank.

Yes, indeed. Blanks CAN even be fatal:

However, given a proper distance between the firearm and the target, they are at least "less lethal" (whatever that means)!
