The only thing surprising to me is that some of them were drinking beer.

Unionized depts up north are allowed to drink on duty from what I've heard.

As I understand it until a few years ago long-haul Air France pilots were allowed to have a glass of wine with their meal.
I think the French like the Russians function better with a little than without.

I wouldn't be surprised at them drinking Kronenbourg or a nice Belgian ale.
