Bill proposed to ban students from wearing bulletproof vests to school

Now, Adams is working with state legislators on a bill to stop students from wearing bulletproof vests or other types of body armor to school.

If it passes, the only way a student can wear a bulletproof vest is if he/she goes to the school administrator first and asks for permission.

"It would deter someone's thoughts from saying I need to go to this extreme to wear a vest to protect myself in school.

Self-protection needs deterring ?
Yeah ... self-protection/defending one's life is a "bad" thing .... right?

Perhaps they worry that the vest will "go off" and injure others?
Maybe everyone would "feel safer" if only the police wore vests at school.
Perhaps students don't have enough training to wear a vest?
(I do understand the triggering event which propagated this bill and agree no person with "evil intent" should have access to bullet resistant vests ... but the logic behind it ... or the philosophy/ideology (as John Woods would say) is too familiar)
We don't want anyone "thinking" that they should "protect themselves" Those thoughts need to be deterred.

The reason for this bill is self evident. Leftists need a nation of people who do not believe in a right of self defense and who depend utterly on government for their every need and very survival. Without that, none of their economic or social policies make a lick of sense. This bill is a reflection of that.

Next will be any clothes in military style or colors, no 5.11 items, no ballistic sunglasses, no trench coats ( I think this is already the case in some schools), no finger nails (definitely a potential for use as a weapon)....

Seriously though, I only hope that the people coming up with this stuff are one day in a situation where their own laws bite them in the rear and that they live through it to see the error of their ways.

First I was thinking it was a spoof from The Onion.
Then I wondered if it was some smart alec teacher trying to highlight the ridiculous banning of everything that could possibly be used as a weapon.

The Louisiana bill making body armor illegal in schools was House Bill 1153 in 2008. It was signed into law as Act 747 in July of that year by Governor Bobby Jindal.

2008 also had a guns on campus bill proposed.

So the consensus of the Louisiana legislators is that students not only should not be allowed to carry guns for self-defense but also should not be allowed to wear bulletproof vests to protect themselves against predators.

We should have a law that legislators are only allowed to live in the worst areas of town and they must spend at least 50% of their time in that house. Maybe that would smack the idiots in the face with reality.

Really? Wow. Jindal just went down a notch in my estimation.

Kinda reminds me of the story a few years ago about the Arlington, TX pastor who forbid the women and girls of his congregation to wear bikini underwear.

Or the line from that 70's classic, "School's Out..." --- "Teacher, leave those kids alone!"
