WTB M1 Carbine, FTF - Houston

[UPDATE: 5/10/11 - HAD A DEAL WORKED OUT FOR THE VETERAN...HE'S SHORT ON CASH SO, TO ALL WHO HAVE OFFERED, THANKS BUT THIS IS OFFICIALLY "BACK BURNER" STATUS.]
I have an older gentleman in my congregation who served on the USS IDAHO during WWII. Before he dies, he's trying to build a small collection of guns he used in the service so that he can remember and reminisce as well as pass them onto his kids after he dies. DISCLOSURE: I am his pastor, not related to him in any way, form or fashion, and other than trying to help an old man and watch him pick up pieces, get no benefit from this at all.
Anyway, he's looking for a M1 Carbine. I see the new Auto Ordinance are available, but he really wants a USGI-issue. CMP is out, of course, and don't expect any in the future.
It doesn't need to be collector-grade, just a decent shooter. By decent, I mean it has to function and let's say keep everything on paper at 50 yards. I suppose CMP would call that rack grade. (Please don't offer this old gentleman a piece o' junk that he will resent.) Of course, the nicer it is, the happier he will be. Anyone have a M1 Carbine he/she would like to sell? It will be given a very loving home and cherished deeply.
I am only a "broker," so to speak. PM me here and I'll pass that along to the gentleman. He's hard of hearing (he was on a battleship for most of the major campeigns of the South Pacific...what do you expect?) so you might speak with me first. So you can be assured this is legit and he is who he says he is, I'm sure he would be perfectly willing to do an FTF and show his Veteran's ID.
