I've been looking for a pocket carry for a while to replace my PT145 when I'm wearing nicer clothes or athletic shorts, or just to supplement my .45. I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet but just the look and feel of it is very nice! I picked it up for about $350 and grabbed a box of Golden Saber .38 +P. I can't wait to shoot it but by the feel and look I'm already impressed!

My wife has a 642 (no lock) and I have a 340PD (with the lock). My wife has been carrying hers for about 3 years and I have had mine almost 7 years. I would not take for either one of them. I have the larger CT grips on mine and she of course has the smaller CT grips in pink

Exactly. My wife's 642CT and my M&P340 are permanent keepers.

Mrs. Anygun carries the 642. I have one I occasionally pocket carry. Nice revolvers. Solid and dependable. I bought hers new but mine I bought in a pawn shop in Beaumont for $300.00.

I have the 642 Airweight. Definitely not a fun range gun. It makes be bleed everytime I shoot it.

But, I know it is reliable, and will get the job done if I need it.

Congrats on a fine choice. I pocket carry mine at all times. Once you get used to having it in your pocket, you'll almost forget you're carrying it. I splurged and bought a Galco Horsehide pocket holster, but it was well worth the 50 bucks as it is made to last a lifetime.

Be sure to have a firm, high grip when you fire it, because it will kick just a little.

I just picked one up myself about 2 weeks ago and it hasn't left my side since. I also found a really awesome leather pocket holster that is perfect.

The same can be said for Mrs Oldgringo's S&W 638.

I can't practice and shoot a full box of +P's, so I sold mine.

...I know several officers who carry one as a backup...light to carry...but they kick too hard to enjoy and it takes a lot of discipline/suffering to shoot enough to be competent with them...I've found the extra weight of the M60 and M649(stainless steel) is not uncomfortable to carry and can fire 50 rounds or so easily...have used Packy Compac rubber grips and they're great to absorb recoil...still conceal well...and might help those who have a 642 or other J airweight/ti not suffer so much on the range and have better control with full house rounds...might be a good compromise...

It's nice to hold and points well. I bought a Hogue Monorip and that helped a lot. It disappears in an Uncle Mike's Sidekick ankle holster.
About 25 rounds are enough for an afternoon. You gotta change hands now and then.

it's my primary and backup with CT grips and Federal 158gr. LSWC+P HP.

I bought a 637-2 Airweight for my wife as a CCW a few months ago, but she felt it jumped too much for her. I liked it at the range, so it is now my car gun. Just got her a Glock 19 (she qualified for her CHL with this). Wait a minute - I bought TWO handguns for my wife! What a great husband I am.

It is amongst the penultimate pocket guns, as you are 1) able to carry with you all the time, 2) Chambered in a serious service cartridge and 3) reliable.

You won't go wrong with it.

HA!!! Especially with the 158 grains Reloader mentioned. Houge grips do help. Great gun to carry in a pocket holster.
