The last known combat veteran of WW I, Claude Stanley Choules, died today in Sydney, Australia. He was 110 years old.

He was born in the UK and served aboard HMS Revenge during WW I. If you do the math, he probably was 16 when he enlisted and 17 when the war ended. That was not uncommon at the time and even in WW II.

He was the last known WW I veteran alive in the world, on any side of the conflict. The last American WW I veteran, Frank W. Buckles, died in March this year. He was also 110.

R.I.P. :patriot:

One British woman who served in a non-combat capacity during WW I remains alive.

I just heard in a radio news story that Mr. Choules was 14 when he enlisted. After WW I he emigrated to Australia. He served in the Australian navy during WW II.
